Ya dejando de lado lo ridículo que es llamar a gente como Robbie Williams, Enrique Iglesias o Justin Timberlake los nuevos reyes del pop, a Sam Smith, recientemente, le llamaron (al menos en un par de artículos que leí tras haber triunfado en los premios Grammy) "el rey del soul". Vete a cagar...
En fin, entiendo que hay que tratar de vender el muñeco tal y como está la industria del disco...
Pero mira tu por donde hará unos días escuché un tema de pasada. Esperé a que dijeran el nombre del artista o el título de la canción pero no hubo suerte. Pero finalmente hace 2 días di con ella.
Se trataba de "Thinking out loud" y la voz era la del tan nombrado Ed Sheeran.
El suyo es uno de esos casos de artista que o bien se da a conocer mediante las redes sociales o que recibió el empujón definitivo gracias a ellas. Justin Bieber (no sé si llamarlo artista o cantante) logró un contrato discográfico tras llamar la atención gracias a los que videos que colgaba en YouTube.
Ed Sheeran había grabado algunos temas y editado Ep's, pero para darse a conocer tanto a los sellos como al gran público ¿qué mejor que Internet?
Pronto recibiría el apoyo de gente como Jamie Foxx o el mismísimo Elton John. Taylor Swift le invitaría a acompañarla en su gira americana como telonero... y un año más tarde era él el que hacia su propio tour por tierras yankees.
Sheeran tiene 23 años, es inglés, pelirrojo y bastante feo pero tiene éxito y eso es gracias a que tiene calidad y talento y eso indica que no todo está perdido en la música. (Destaco lo de pelirrojo y feo porque dicen que ahora estos -los pelirrojos- ligan más gracias al éxito del joven cantante).
Tiene 2 álbumes; "+" (2011) y que vendió unos 4 millones de copias y "X" (2014) que lleva más de 7.
Y "Thinking out loud" es preciosa, aunque suene a algo ya escuchado antes.
