Los East 17 fueron los rivales de Take That en cuanto a boy-band más exitosa de los años 90 en el Reino Unido. Tuvieron un puñado de singles que colocaron en el Top-20 y 3 álbumes de platino. Tendrían también éxito en otros países europeos pero al igual que Take That nunca triunfaron al otro lado del Atlántico.
Titularon su primer disco Walthamstow, que era el nombre del distrito a las afueras de Londres de donde provenían (también sacarían su nombre del código postal -E17-) y obtuvo un gran éxito logrando el número 1 en las listas británicas y colocando 3 de sus temas en el Top-10.
Poco más de un año después lograban doblar esos logros con un disco de doble platino y 4 nuevos singles entre los 10 primeros, siendo uno de ellos esta bonita "Around The World".
El tercer álbum obtenía un éxito menor que los anteriores pero todavía mantenía el status de platino para el cuarteto. Lamentablemente problemas internos (como en el 99,9% de los grupos) les llevaron a la fatídica ruptura que una y otra vez desde 1997 han intentado arreglar pero sin éxito.
