La Canción De La Semana "FIRST WE TAKE MANHATTAN" Leonard Cohen

Madre mía que escándalo! La policía llamándome, recibiendo cientos de mensajes de los fans, mi madre pidiéndome por favor que lo hiciera... y si, ya está aquí "La Canción De La Semana"!

No os iba a dejar a mis cientos de segui... ¿que digo cientos? miles y miles de fans que esperáis este post semanal con uno de esos temas que tan contentos os ponen... en fin...

Me dejo de chorradas y voy por faena; esta semana el protagonista es un canadiense de 76 años que combina música con literatura (ha publicado varios libros de poesía y novelas). Su nombre es Leonard Cohen y reconozco que no se prácticamente nada de su carrera, pero existe un tema que siempre me ha atraído.

"First We Take Mahattan" la escribió el propio Cohen en 1987 y la cedió a Jennifer Warnes (famosa principalmente por las bandas sonoras de "Oficial y caballero" y "Dirty dancing"), pero el propio Cohen la incluiría en su álbum de 1988 "I'm Your Man" y se convertiría en uno de sus mayores éxitos y sin lugar a dudas la mas accesible y comercial de su catálogo.

A mi, desde pequeño, Cohen me recordaba a la colaboración del gran Vincent Price en el "Thriller" de Michael Jackson. Por cierto, Cohen dijo en una ocasión que Michael Jackson era uno de los grandes poetas musicales del siglo.

Una voz tan grave y sobria y unas canciones tan sombrías y pesimistas, pero siempre que daban el video de "First We Take Manhattan" me quedaba viéndolo. Algo tendrá, ¿no?
