Hoy 7 de marzo se cumplen 25 años de la edición de una canción histórica. Los hechos se remontan a 1984, año en el cual Harry Belafonte presencia horrorizado (al igual que medio mundo) las imágenes de hambruna que llegan desde el continente africano, especialmente en Etiopía. Animado por su manager, Ken Kragen, decide ponerse en contacto con una serie de artistas norteamericanos para, de alguna manera, recrear el espíritu de un proyecto similar que llevaron a cabo el año anterior artistas del otro lado del atlántico, cuando se reunieron bajo el nombre de "Band Aid" para grabar el single "Do they know it's christmas?".Contactaron con Quincy Jones que les prometió que Michael Jackson participaría en la grabación. No sólo participó sino que él mismo y Lionel Richie se encargaron de componer el tema. Junto a ellos un total de 45 artistas se unieron para dar forma a este himno. La grabación tuvo lugar el 28 de enero de 1985 en Los Ángeles y el 7 de marzo era lanzada al aire en todo el mundo.

Hará cosa de un mes, estuvimos escuchando M80 ya que, hicieron un programa sobre este proyecto.
No sabía, por ejemplo que Prince en la versión original, no participó, aunque quiso aportar su granito de arena creando una canción también, para incluirlo en el disco que se iba a vender.
Y la versión de ahora ... buff, para mí no es lo mismo, que las voces que han acompañado mi infancia, adolescencia y demás.
Por cierto, quiero que sonrías ampliamente mi querido amigo, por que por fin, he encontrado la mítica foto ... :P.

Respecto a lo de Prince en su no participación en "We are the world", parece ser que el muchacho se sintió un tanto cohibido ante tanto famoso (esa fue su excusa), aunque supongo que también tendría algo que ver el cantar en una canción compuesta por su rival mas directo en aquellos momentos (Michael Jackson, claro).
Dicen que una vez arrepentido llamo a Quincy Jones para contribuir con un solo de guitarra, pero que Quincy le dijo que ya era demasiado tarde.
Para el álbum "We are the world", cedió la fantástica "4 The Tears In U're Eyes".
La de Epi ... ¬¬ (ya te dije que a mí la ropa de interior, no me va blanca ...).
